The Best Christmas lights in Hammond and Ponchatoula

It’s that time again, the most wonderful time of the year!   It’s Christmas time!  Time for picking out Christmas trees, eggnog is back, Christmas parties, ornaments, hot chocolate, oh and don’t forget the lights and decorations.
We have a family tradition of driving around to look at Christmas lights with our kids.   If you are looking for the brightest and best light shows around…here’s my list of best Christmas lights in the Hammond/Ponchatoula area, along with a list of events in the Tangipahoa Parish for the Christmas Season:

We’ll start on the west side of Ponchatoula off of Highway 22.  If you want to see a beautiful home, head to Deer Creek Subdivision.  This home was by far the hands-down winner as the most brilliantly decorated, yet tasteful home.  Playing in the background was “We Wish you a Merry Christmas.”  This home is sure to be a family favorite.

There will be no Hammond Christmas parade this year due to Covid.

On December 4th, 2020 Ponchatoula has their Annual Christmas Lighting ceremony from 6:00-8:00 PM  The Mayor will be flipping the switch to light the town of Ponchatoula.  There will be lots of food, fun and hot chocolate.  Santa will be on the steps of Collinswood Museum with candy canes for the kids.

Ponchatoula’s Christmas Parade will be rolling on Saturday December 12, 2020 from 5:00-8:00 PM

And, what would Christmas in Hammond be without seeing the holiday light display at Hammond’s Zemurray Park?  It features over 100,000 lights and an animated light show each evening from 6:00-9:00 PM.   You can also drive, walk or take a miniature train ride through the park to experience the Christmas magic.

Another subdivision that stood out was Azalea Woods also located on the west side of Ponchatoula.   The neighborhood is delightfully decorated to help you get in the Christmas spirit!

Other places that make the list of the best Christmas lights in Hammond and Ponchatoula are:
Villa West, Oak Creek, Jefferson Cort & Belle Foret.

.

If you’d like to bring your kids to enjoy a classic, “The Nutcracker” will be returning on December 11th & 12th at 7:00 pm at the Columbia Theater presented by the Hammond Ballet Company.
Adult tickets: $29

The outdoor Live ‘Mega’ Nativity Production of One Night in Bethlehem presented by Calvary Christian Center will be taking a break this year.

  1. Hello Petra,
Good idea showing the Christmas lights. I lived in Metairie, LA for a while, and have been to Hammond.
